Amigo Desktop Magnifier at CSUN
Published: Jun 25, 2007Enhanced Vision featured the Amigo desktop magnifier at the CSUN 2006 assistive technology conference. The company is convinced that "the Amigo combines the best features of a desktop and a portable magnifier in one easy-to-use unit," making it a key product in the company’s product portfolio.
When on a table, you can adjust it the viewing angle to your comfort for reading books, examining maps and viewing other images. The Amigo is thin and lightweight, and Enhanced Vision boasts that “It can be used when you are out and shopping,” though at 1.3 lbs and with a 6.5 inch screen, it may be a bit cumbersome for some users to carry for remote use. The term “Desktop Magnifier” is therefore the best way to describe this new $1695 USD video magnifier.
Some features of the Enhanced Visio Amigo are:
- Slim (less than 2″), light (1.3 lbs.)
- Digital magnification from 3.5 to 14X; plus, the user can leave the Amigo directly on reading material while selecting the best magnification
- Large viewing screen (6.5 inches)
- Handy screen tilting gives the user the flexibility to view images at a comfortable angle
- Freeze frame allows the user to take a temporary picture
- Removable standard battery with internal charger (spare battery included)
- 6 viewing modes (including 2 color select options)
- Writing stand and carrying case
- Connects with TVs for increased magnification
- 2 year warranty
