Automated Translation Sign Language
Published: Jun 20, 2007GlovoLogy is an electronic data glove and a Pocket PC phone (PPC) used to enhance a hearing-impaired person’s ability to communicate easier either face-to-face or on the telephone.
The idea behind the project software, which runs in any location using a wireless connection, is to enable the translation of sign language (via the data glove) into speech and the speech of a normal person into text on a PPC.
The project aims to benefit the deaf-mute community and is especially targeted at students and working people who are literate in English. The end-goal is to assist deaf-mute people function better in society and to be financially independent. The advantage of GlovoLogy is that it allows both parties – the hearing-impaired person and the hearing person – to communicate with each other in their most natural method, thereby helping the hearing-impaired person to communicate with others in an easier and faster way.

In the future, the concept of GlovoLogy incorporated into a PPC phone will allow a hearing-impaired person to converse on the phone with a normal person, without tha person having to make any modifications to the phone. In addition, language translation functionalities can be incorporated into GlovoLogy to enable communication through different languages.
