Dolby Laboratories Show Accessible Digital Cinema Products

Published: Jun 20, 2007

Dolby Laboratories has announced that at Cinema Expo, held in the Netherlands, it will demonstrate the full Dolby Digital Cinema presentation system and its new digital cinema trailer, “Countdown.”

The company will be demonstrating Dolby ScreenTalk, a cinema subtitling and audio enhancing system that provides full-color digital subtitles via a video projector or an alternative subtitling device over any standard 35 mm film with a Dolby Digital soundtrack. The system also provides audio commentary for the visually impaired, using the cinema’s wireless headphone system.

Over 100 Dolby ScreenTalk systems have been sold across Europe and positive feedback has been received from trials held in France, Germany, and Switzerland. More than 200 films are now available with Dolby ScreenTalk audio description and subtitling.

“Our products and technologies are designed to serve studios and exhibitors alike and lead them into the digital future,” said Jason Power, Market Development Manager for Dolby Laboratories. “Dolby is celebrating 40 years of technological advancements at the show, highlighting innovative products that continue to solve problems, but are still flexible and reliable, and are designed and built specifically for today’s cinemas.”
