Acapela Group announced that UK-based computer software company Dolphin Computer Access Limited selected the Acapela Group Text-To-Speech engine to be supplied with their latest assistive software packages.

Dolphin’s latest Pocket Hal screen-reader for PDAs will be formally released at the ATIA Conference in Orlando, Florida. Blind and low-vision computer users can access the same technology at the same prices as their sighted colleagues. Pocket Hal comes with the Acapela TTS engine, offering high quality and responsive, natural sounding speech.

Steve Hawkes, marketing manager for Dolphin says, “Dolphin has an international reputation for innovation, reliability, and customer satisfaction. We invest heavily in new product development, so that our customers have the best possible products and maximum product choice. We do offer our own high quality synthesizer with all of our products; however, many people prefer alternative human sounding synthesizers.”

Dolphin produces a range of software solutions for blind and low-vision computer users, ranging from text reading software to full screen-readers and combined screen-readers and magnifiers.

According to Lars-Erik Larsson, VP sales at Acapela Group, “Acapela TTS offers highly intelligible and pleasant tones in up to 23 languages and more than 50 voices, thus enabling us to provide a perfect answer to demanding requests from market leaders such as Dolphin, looking for the best technology to voice-enable their innovative high quality computer access solutions.”

The choice of Acapela TTS by Dolphin confirms Acapela as a leader in the accessibility market. With 20 years of expertise and a wide market validation, Acapela Group is committed to improving accessibility for everyone through multimedia, mobile, and telecom solutions with multilingual, highly natural text-to -peech adapted to the accessibility market. With speech solutions that are dedicated to accessibility use, designed to make information available for visually impaired, dyslexic or illiterate people, Acapela actively contributes to make daily life easier for thousands of people throughout the world.
