Embedded TTS on Windows CE 5.0 & Windows Mobile 5.0 Devices Released

Published: Jun 22, 2007

The text-to-speech (TTS) technology for the compact versions of Windows (Windows CE 5.0 and Windows Mobile 5.0) was released by Loquendo.

The porting of Loquendo TTS to these new environments helps introduce to the embedded version the range of improvements and enhancements which has been carried out on the Loquendo TTS core engine, originally derived from the multimedia/telephony sectors.

A new feature has been included in this embedded version of Loquendo TTS to exploit the new memory management system in Windows CE 5.0 and Windows Mobile 5.0. Client/server architecture has been introduced, keeping the TTS engine and the client application as two separate processes, which makes available the full 32 Mb of memory to each application process.

Loquendo and Code Factory are joining forces to deliver applications to the visually impaired. Code Factory will integrate Loquendo’s embedded multilingual Synthetic Speech technology in its wide variety of mobile applications, enabling users to enjoy Loquendo’s personas on Code Factory’s Mobile Speak and Mobile Speak Pocket.

Currently, Loquendo embedded TTS supports 17 languages ,with additional language technologies under development.
