ERICA Standard gives users the ability to communicate and to control a fully functional computer in one sleek package. Our Windows based system employs a tabletPC. Our Macintosh based system ships with the latest iMac computer.This system provides individuals with disabilities with a means to communicate and meets the requirements for a Dedicated Communication Device as specified by Medicare. Insurance companies typically cover this system as well. It can be unlocked to become an ERICA Standard System.

If you wish to install the system on your own computer, you need a powered IEEE 1394 port. IEEE 1394 PCMCIA cards for laptops and PCI boards for desktops are available for under $100. Your computer should run Windows XP or Mac OS 10.2.x (Jaguar) or above. We recommend that you have a computer with the same specs as our tablet. Different hardware is used for the Macintosh and Windows based systems, so you must specify which operating system you wish to use when ordering. For Macintosh computers, you need at least

  • Power Macintosh G3 500 MHz or faster with FireWire ports
  • 256 Mb RAM
  • Mac OS X 10.2.x (Jaguar)
  • Monitor capable of displaying 800x600 screen resolution and thousands colors depth
