FL4SH Scanner Released

Published: Jun 23, 2007

AbleNet, Inc., a leading developer of assistive technology devices for persons with disabilities, announced its newest Augmentative and Alternative Communication device, dubbed FL4SH. The device is designed to give students more control over conversation and communication.

Users are taught scanning by this four-location voice output communication device. This is done using static display technology through a systematic approach to language. FL4SH’s exclusive frame lighting feature provides motivational visual feedback and makes it a perfect fit for direct selectors and scanners alike. Priced under $1,000 USD, FL4SH features a unique “out of the box” experience that includes engaging activities for educators and students and a simple tutorial to get you up and running in less than five minutes.

“We assessed our customers’ needs and developed a solution for students who need more support for improving their scanning accuracy,” said Cheryl Volkman, AbleNet co-founder and chief development officer.

FL4SH activities are designed for educators and students just beginning to explore the communication process and the motor planning for scanning. Students can, by participating in these activities, experience choice making, gain understanding of symbols and increase motor response.
