Jaap Breider has joined the Optelec executive management team as technology officer for the company’s portfolio of blindness products. The blind founder of ALVA, a Netherlands-based supplier of refreshable Braille terminals, stated that both Optelec and ALVA have historically been leading providers of access technology.
Breider announced, “I am excited to be working with such a committed team of professionals and look forward to meeting many of you at various conferences and events in the not-too-distant future.” The developments were largely expected since Optelec acquired assets of ALVA in September 2005.
Optelec US has also announced a strategic alliance with Oregon-based technology supplier VisionCue. Larry Lake, president of VisionCue, formerly with ALVA Access, brings considerable acquaintance and know-how with ALVA line.
