Freedom Scientific releases JAWS 6
Published: Jun 19, 2007On the tenth birthday of Freedom Scientific’s Jaws, the new edition is released. Version 6.0 finally brings the changes many are waiting for, like the end of the Quelle licensing, improved Internet support and Citrix and Windows Terminal support.
The Dutch site Blinfotec tested the English version as soon as it was available and noticed important changes and is very happy with most of them. One of the most significant steps of Freedom Scientific is to let go of the ancient Quelle floppy license and switch to the ‘Internet Licensing Manager’ (ILM).
Version 6.0 offers a DAISY supported help system called FSReader with an included a free demo DAISY player. The included player allows the user to use all available Jaws help files and can be unlocked to access all DAISY files with an extended license. Blinfotec discovered some additional features worth mentioning on this new Jaws release.
-

-

With Jaws 6.0, Freedom Scientific gives more power to the user and with the power of Windows Terminal Services and Citrix support it will favor major organizations that provide accessible work environments for the Jaws users. The improved speed and Internet features were directly noticeable to the visually impaired tester of Blinfotec and with the release of Jaws 6.0, he seems to be Freedom Scientifics’ biggest fan.
