Game Building Application for People with Visual Disability
Published: Jun 28, 2007
AudioGames.net has announced the development of Audio Game Maker, and they are expecting to release the first prototype of the application in February of 2007. Audio Game Maker is an application that enables people with visual impairment to make their own computer games.
Since only few games are accessible for people with visual impairment, Audio Game Maker intends to increase that number by much. Programming difficulties and other technical issues put off many people with visual impairment to create their own games. Some hardcore gamers record their own sounds, thereby modifying an existing game into a new one. But still there is a strong demand for accessible tools that enables visually impaired people to make computer games.
Audio Game Maker intends to provide a simple and accessible game building environment for the visually impaired. Audio Game Maker is part of project Game Accessibility, a series of activities conducted by the Bartiméus Accessibility foundation to improve the accessibility of computer games for players with impairments.
Viewers are welcomed to post their suggestions, wishes and recommendations at the Audio Game Maker forum (Game-Accessibility website) or the AudioGames.net thread, if they prefer to use their AG login.
