HiSoftware Celebrates 10 Millionth Page Test on Its Cynthia Says Website
Published: Jun 23, 2007
HiSoftware, a leading provider of software, services and managed operation solutions that monitors and optimizes Web content, quality and regulatory compliance, recently announced the 10 millionth page test on the company’s Cynthia Says portal. The portal, devoted to the educational community, is a joint outreach project of HiSoftware, the International Center for Disability Resources on the Internet (ICDRI), and the Internet Society Disability and Special Needs Chapter. Its goal is to help make Web content accessible to individuals with disabilities.
Cynthia Says is named after Cynthia Wadell, JD, an internationally noted expert and pioneer of technology solutions for individuals with disabilities. She is also the executive director of the International Center for Disability Resources on the Internet. “HiSoftware’s Cynthia Says provides an easy-to-use solution for organizations to educate themselves on accessibility issues on their websites,” says Wadell. More than 10 million Web pages have been tested using the portal, ultimately improving the quality of life for those requiring accessibility improvements.
The Cynthia Says portal is a free educational tool designed to identify errors in Web content related to Section 508 standards and/or the WCAG guidelines for accessibility. It allows users to test individual pages on their website and provides immediate feedback in a reporting format that is clear and easy to understand. Accessibility issues within websites can be detected from the Web-based applications, dynamic pages or static HTML pages.
According to the president of American Council of the Blind, Christopher Gray, “HiSoftware’s solution allows people with disabilities greater access to websites and online content across the globe.”
Robert B. Yonaitis, founder and CTO of HiSoftware, states, “Cynthia Says was developed to deliver a usable and universal accessibility solution that can be easily understood by developers and Internet users as an education and outreach project. It is the most complete testing tool in the market.”
