IBM Philippines has spent a total of $320,000 USD for its education-based programs in the country for the last five years as part of the company’s social responsibility activities.

Among the biggest investments IBM made was for Computer-Eyes, an annual summer computer workshop for the visually impaired. The company partnered with the non-government organization Resources for the Blind and the educational firm Nippon Overbrook network for Education Technology for the project, and has so far trained more than 120 blind students to use computers.

“IBM has also helped bridge the digital divide through IT education programs that reach remote areas across the country. In all these efforts, IBM helps people use information technology to improve the quality of life for themselves and others,” IBM Philippines feneral manager Joaquin Quintos IV said.
