iGesture Touchpad for Computer Control

Published: Jun 20, 2007

The Delaware-based FingerWorks has designed a product that combines the touchpad and the keyboard. iGesture is a touchpad delivered with analysis software that transposes finger movement into key strokes. This way hundreds of keys and functions can control multiple operating systems with a tip of the finger.

The way iGesture is used is very similar to the way you would write a letter on a touchpad. Each stroke represents a letter for the alphabet of a macro activating a program. The combination of a mouse and keyboard, together with the touchpad, is a unique way of controlling the computer.

iGesture exists in three editions: the basic edition: Multi-touch, the numerical edition of your keyboard NumPad and a complete iGesture in a keyboard edition. These versions can work with Windows, Mac and Linux with measurements of the MultiPad: 0.31 x 7.1 x 5.5 inches and will the USB connection. The unit looks just like a mousepad.

It will be delivered with drivers for mouse and keyboard which will transfer the movements. There is software available that will record the movements to macros. For people with limited hand functions this might be a real addition to their current solutions.

FingerWork’s website is covered with Flash pictures to explain all the possibilities. An iGesture Pad costs $159 USD and the complete keyboard costs $339 USD. At the moment, iGesture is only available in the FingerWorks’ online store.
