Optelec EasyLink Gives Braille Access to PDA
Published: Jun 20, 2007Optelec’s EasyLink is a Braille keyboard with Bluetooth support that enables direct entry to mobile phones, computers or PDAs. If you know Braille entry, this device can empower you.
Connect the Optelec EasyLink via Bluetooth and enter notes, emails or send text messages, manage your agenda or write full documents in combination with a mobile device. The combination of EasyLink and a mobile phone or PDA creates a note-taker or organizer. You don’t have to worry about hardware.
Optelec demonstrated the Easylink software in combination with Mobile Speak software on a Nokia phone. The connection and entry was done rapidly and Talks considered each entry with an audio (speech) feedback. In addition a VisuAide Maestro or Trekker and Easylink combination could create a full GPS supported assistive orientation device.
Future versions of Easylink will support Dolphin screenreaders (Hal, Lunar and Lunar Plus).
