Release of Nuance ZOOMS

Published: Jun 21, 2007

Nuance ZOOMS, designed especially for the needs of the low-vision community, is the latest addition to the Nuance Accessibility Suite. It enables people with low vision to navigate through the mobile handset’s functions by magnifying the content of mobile handset displays.

Nuance ZOOMS is the first full-screen magnification tool for Symbian Series 60 handsets. It uses the complete screen area for magnification. The distinctive Distributed Views mode enables users to view all-important areas of the screen at the same time.

It gives an effect of holding a magnifying glass over a handset screen without using any other equipment. The Nuance ZOOMS magnifier can be moved across the screen to enlarge elements up to 16 times their original size and intelligently access different screen areas. Nuance ZOOMS magnifies each item along with some of the surrounding area, as the user scrolls through a menu or a list of options. With the help of key commands, a user can magnify specific elements such as the window title, soft keys, or battery level indicator. An added advantage, the smart scrolling feature, automatically scrolls through the text that does not fit on the screen in its entirety.

Nuance ZOOMS is targeted at people with mild vision impairments and seniors with low vision. For detailed information visit the Nuance Website.
