Search Engine for the Visually Impaired

Published: Jun 22, 2007

Big may be a solution for users having problems reading the search results of traditional search engines like Google, MSN or Yahoo.

Apart from the large font size of the search results at big.com, the words users enter in the search box are also larger and easier to be easily read by visually impaired people.

However, just because the font size is larger does not mean that big.com is the best solution for visually impaired users. The problem is that the site has too many advertisements, particularly Google ads.

Users should also know that the font size of a website on the computer screen can be controlled on any website by adjusting settings in the browser itself.

Like users in the general market, visually impaired Web surfers generally prefer a search engine without advertisements, so Big.com may leave users feeling a bit small.
