The Reasons Behind the ScanSoft and Nuance Merger

According to a report on Research and Markets, ScanSoft continues its aggressive growth strategy and has moved to acquire its largest competitor, Nuance, in a $221 million deal that will change the dynamics of the voice business landscape.


 

As the two largest speech engine vendors, with a combined global revenue market share of over 75 percent, ScanSoft and Nuance will become one entity and assume the name “Nuance,” upon close of the transaction.
