Web Accessibility Unknown in Thailand

Published: Jun 21, 2007

Ric Shreves tested the accessibility of several of the largest public corporations in Thailand and the results where shocking. Only one of five corporations in Thailand is anywhere close to getting there website accessible. The rest are far from accessible.

Shreves said: “I was very surprised at how many sites had basic rookie errors. Clearly, no one involved in the Web effort ever tried to validate several of these sites or they would have discovered these easy-to-correct mistakes. This evidence of complete indifference to Web standards and accessibility is perhaps the most disturbing part. I mean, if publicly listed corporations with big budgets and an obligation to shareholders can’t be bothered with standards compliance and handicapped accessibility, where is the hope for this market?”
